Gibson 2016 Limited Edition lineup
Gibson have announced their 2016 limited edition lineup, some new and some old favourites re-visited. The lineup is quite diverse and there is something for everyone, with some new finishes and even some signature models as well.
There are two new 7 string SG models, a Supreme SG and a Naked SG. Gibson have also promised a return of the Les Paul Voodoo for 2016, a Les Paul Standard topped in walnut, redwood or mahogany, as well as a swamp ash Les Paul Studio, to name a few. There’s also a Midtown Deluxe, Les Paul Fort Knox in gold bullion finish, Les Paul CM in black and a Les Paul ‘Sunken Treasure’ finish.
On top of that there are two limited edition Joe Bonamassa signature Les Paul models with the new ‘Tomato Soup Burst’ finish. One sports a Bigsby trem. Each guitar is produced in limited numbers. The Les Paul Fort Knox, for example, is limited to 150 guitars worldwide.
If the build quality is as good as the 2015 guitars then these could be some really great guitars to go try out. Even though last year’s range was not exactly popular, most of the players that own them would agree that the build quality was some of the best that the company has done in years and yes, I do own some 2015 Gibson guitars myself, so I am speaking from experience.
I really hope these are as nice as my ones, as when Gibson get it right they van make some beautiful guitars.
