Gibson Custom Shop Kirk Hammett Greeny announced at $20k
New $20k Custom Shop Kirk Hammett Greeny revealed
The Gibson Custom Shop Kirk Hammett Greeny has been officially announced and will set you back $20k for the latest Murphy Lab recreation. There is also a standard version on the horizon as well, yet no price has been officially announced for that one yet.
Custom Shop Kirk Hammett Greeny
These Gibson Custom Shop Kirk Hammett Greeny Murphy Lab models are the new “affordable” version of the iconic 1959 Les Paul Standard. The previous limited-run models were $50k a piece and so this one could be deemed a bargain.
Specifications
Yes, it is yet another recreation of a 1959 Les Paul Standard and it has had the Murphy Lab Aged treatment, so there is a huge markup on the price.
It features what Gibson describes as a lightweight mahogany body with a figured maple top. And it has a custom Greeny profile mahogany neck paired with an Indian Rosewood fretboard.
The latter, which, costs a lot less than Brazilian Rosewood is also easy to transport around the world and needs no extra paperwork.
Pickups
The pickups are a Custom Greeny Bucker with a flipped Alnico 2 magnet that is reverse mounted in the neck position and a matching Custom Greeny Bucker Alnico 2 in the bridge position.
The latest version also comes with the modern-day Sperzel tuners, as used by Kirk Hammett.
It comes in a Brown/Pink Lifton Reissue 5-Latch case, a Certificate of Authenticity and a Gibson Custom Shop Switch Plate Medallion.
MSRP – USD 19,999.00
Standard Coming Soon
Don’t forget that Gibson also has a non-aged standard version of Greeny coming later this year. Which should be a lot cheaper than this $20k recreation.
MSRP – TBC
