Gibson Dave Mustaine Flying V EXP now available without a phone call
The Mustaine V is now finally on wider release
That Gibson Dave Mustaine Flying V EXP which was on a limited release at the end of 2021 is now officially available from Gibson dealers worldwide. Previously, you had to call Gibson directly to buy one, but now the limited edition guitar is being produced in greater numbers and you may actually be able to buy one.
Gibson Dave Mustaine Flying V EXP
The limited edition Gibson Dave Mustaine Flying V EX comes in either Antique Natural or Silver Metallic nitro cellulose finish. It has a 25.5” scale mahogany neck, unusual for Gibson, with a compound radius ebony fretboard, and 24 medium jumbo frets. You also get a set of mother of pearl “teeth” inlays, plus an Explorer-style headstock fitted with Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners and comes factory-fitted with a Graph Tech nut.
Thrash Factor
This signature model features a pair of Seymour Duncan Thrash Factor pickups, and the controls consist of individual volume controls, a master tone control, and a three-way switch. The volume knob closer to the bridge, despite its higher position, controls the bridge pickup, making volume swells easier to achieve. And let’s face it, Mustaine is probably on that bridge pickup for the majority of his tone.
The mahogany Flying V-style body comes with a Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, uses an angled Stratocaster-style jack socket on the inside of the upper V horn.
Limited Edition
Even though it is now a wider release, it is still a limited-edition model. It’s just that now the guitar is available to order from dealers worldwide. If you are a fan of Megadeth and Mustaine, then you may want to order one sooner rather than later. And I can certainly see scalpers buying these up and then trying to pass them on for a profit. So hopefully, the real fans will beat them to the punch on this.
