Gibson Everly Brothers SJ-200 ultra limited run announced
Ultra limited run of acoustics
The Gibson Everly Brothers SJ-200 acoustic in an ebony finish, with Don and Phil Everly’s trademark dual cream pickguard. With only 30 guitars being built and sold worldwide, this is a very limited run indeed.
Gibson Everly Brothers SJ-200
These Gibson Everly Brothers SJ-200 models come in an ebony finish with the highly recognisable dual cream pickguard. which fans will associate immediately with the Everly brothers. The guitar itself is based on Don and Phil Everly’s SJ-200 and is handmade by Gibson’s Acoustic Custom Shop in Bozeman, Montana. Whenever you see the Everly Brothers, you’ll see them wielding this model.
Construction
Construction consists of a AA flame maple back and sides, paired with a thermally aged Sitka spruce top. Then you get a two-piece maple neck with a 12″ radius, 20-fret rosewood fretboard fitted with mother of pearl graduated crown inlays. They also have the rosewood four-bar J-200 ‘Moustache‘ bridge with four-bar the matching mother of pearl inlays.
With an ebony thin finish nitrocellulose VOS treatment and that dual pickguard, these guitars will certainly stand out in a room full of acoustics. You get Gibson’s traditional hand scalloped X-bracing, with hot hide glue used throughout the construction of the guitar.
Ultra Limited Run
Each of these ultra-limited run of 30 guitars comes with an SJ-200 hardshell case included in the price. I guess there is a limited audience for such collectable guitars such as these, but no doubt they will sell out. These will have a similar audience to the two recent Elvis acoustic models I suspect. They aren’t cheap, but you have to admit they really stand out from the crowd as an acoustic.
MSRP – USD 7999
