Gibson exclusive CME SG Standards in Custom Shop finishes with T-Top pickups!
New Gibson CME SG Standards in cool exclusive colours
Gibson has released an exclusive range of SG Standard models in Custom Shop finishes – these SGs feature tortoiseshell pickguards and Gibson’s “T-Type” pickups. You’ll have to get them from Chicago Music Exchange, as they are an exclusive run. But they do look sweet!
Gibson CME SG Standards
Before you head down to your local dealer asking for one of these, remember that this run is an exclusive for Chicago Music Exchange in America. If you are outside the USA, these could be a whole lot more expensive for you to import to your county! However, if you reside in the States then these are certainly an interesting variation on the beloved Gibson SG Standard. What really makes these SGs stand out from the crowd is the colour options available. You can order them in finishes normally reserved for Gibson’s Custom Shop and Artist Signature models. I think that’s a big deal, as some of them look truly awesome.
All the colours
In addition to more common SG finish variations Cherry, Ebony, and Walnut, this run of SGs also includes Frost Blue, Kerry Green, Coral, Shell Pink, Olive Drab, and Gloss Yellow. To help them pop even more, they come with tortoiseshell pickguards rather than plain old black ones differentiating them even more from a regular SG Standard.
T-Tops
But that’s not all. As well as these cool new Custom finishes, these SG Standards all come loaded with Gibson’s “T-Type” pickups, which are recreations of much-coveted T-Tops humbuckers of the late ’60s through to the early ’80s. This is a big deal, too, as this era of pickup design has become much sought after in recent years, associated with some great-sounding guitars on classic recordings. Used by everyone from Jimmy Page to U2’s The Edge, they have a lot of heritage and make this run of SG Standards pretty special.
These guitars are due for sale around 15th March and the price includes a soft shell case.
RRP – USD 1499 plus shipping/taxes
