Gibson Jimmy Page EDS-1275 Doubleneck revealed
Stairway to profit?
The Gibson Jimmy Page EDS-1275 Doubleneck was revealed at an exclusive star-studded event at the new Gibson Garage London before the official store opening this weekend. This announcement is just the first release of a new Gibson Jimmy Page series of guitars.
UPDATE from 03/14/2024
So here it is, the expected Jimmy Page EDS-1275 Doubleneck Signature. It was clear that the first version would be high-priced, but $49999 was a surprise even for us. Ouch! They used 3D scanning and Murphy Lab ageing techniques to make these as accurate as possible.
The Collector’s Edition package includes the following
- Hand-signed and played by Jimmy Page.
- Jimmy Page EDS-1275 Custombuckers pickups for authentic tone.
- Lavish case candy curated by Jimmy Page, including a Certificate of Authenticity Book with photo, Pick Display with Herco Flex pick played by Jimmy Page, Premium Leather Strap & Vintage Replica Strap, Schaller Strap Locks, Embroidered Dragon Guitar Shroud, and a Gibson Doubleneck Stand.
Collector’s Edition
The so-called Collector’s Edition is limited to only 50 pieces worldwide, all played and signed by the Grand Master himself. Interested parties with the appropriate wallet can contact Gibson itself or Gibson Garage London, as mentioned below.
MSRP – USD 49999 / GBP 43999
Jimmy Page EDS-1275 Doubleneck
The new Gibson Garage London event was held with stars in attendance, including Jimmy Page, Tony Iommi, and Brian May. A video accompanying the announcement shows Page playing Link Wray’s Rumble on the famous guitar.
This official reveal of the new Jimmy Page EDS-1275 Doubleneck was the main attraction. Though Page and Gibson have also stated they are working on a series of recreations of his iconic guitars. This means we could see significant announcements over the coming year and beyond. Led Zeppelin fans, you had better start saving now!
“When I met with Cesar and he explained what the future of Gibson looked like, I knew I needed to be involved. There is a spirit in the place; after seeing the people working at the factories and getting a connection with them, I knew that picking up that Les Paul Custom and the Doubleneck all those years ago was certainly the right decision.” – Jimmy Page.
The Doubleneck
Gibson states they have recreated Page’s iconic 1971 Gibson EDS-1275 using advanced 3D scanning and analysis to replicate its physical and tonal characteristics. Along with a Murphy Lab-aged finish, use select-tone woods and analysis of the original guitar pickups to help duplicate the guitar.
It will be an expensive guitar, and we will update you with more details once they are officially announced.
What else is coming?
The speculation has already started, and the Gibson Les Paul Standards, known as #1 and #2, along with Page’s Les Paul Custom (Page mentions this guitar in the Instagram post above), have all been mentioned by fans, enthusiasts and guitar geeks. I’m guessing that Gibson will make a lot of guitars.
The standard formula appears to be to release a limited Custom Shop Murphy Lab-aged version, a standard Custom Shop version, then a more affordable US version, followed by an Epiphone run. Therefore, we could see a glut of new Jimmy Page guitars over the coming 12-36 months.
Cesar Gueikian, Gibson’s CEO, was at the event and is a massive fan of Zeppelin. I can see him wanting to create some exceptional guitars. So prepare for some great new instruments from Gibson over the coming years.

The sad part of these nostalgic reissues is that the majority of people that buy one will never play it. Gibson and other manufacturers are not creating guitars to be played but investment commodities. It seems like a waste to me. I bought one of the Fender SRV Number 1’s (which sell for stupid money now) and I play it regularly. Too much craftsmanship goes into these special issues to let them sit in the case hoping they increase in value.
i got my Fender dragon tele for a reasonable $1250. play it often. hopefully Gibson has a clue and can offer less premium models.
Page is a joke.
He destroyed the greatest band on earth as well as his guitar playing with heroin. Once worshipped him. He can’t play anymore.
Huh. How does your legacy and catalog stack against Jimmy’s?
No incredible but dead drummers on my conscience.
No heroin addiction.
Is guitar fame worth losing your soul, self-respect and talent? Look to Jeff Beck for a much better although imperfect example.
That is a horrible statement to make and quite bold. I would watch the Karma relay on that one
That is a horrible statement to make and quite bold. I would watch the Karma relay on that one! He didnt drink Bonham to Death John did! Personal addiction is just that…..none of your business! Page was a highly accredited & desired studio musician as a teenager but he has no talent?? Give a break. I guess the Devil took that at the time he sold his soul too! Might I add he was 1 of the only 3 iconic guitarists in the Yard birds. Taking the position from the direction of Beck himself when he had to be hospitalized for a stint.
I think we can all throw an unbelievable amount at snark at this, but you need realise that this is more of an art piece than an musical instrument.
This isn’t going to be bought by guitarists, and it’s never going to be played by guitarists. It’s going to be bought by folk with *lots* of disposable cash who will mount it on the wall of their living room (in their second or third home) and amaze their friends with anecdotes about how it was ‘actually played by Jimmy Page’.
It’s just an piece of art that’ll never lose money. When their startup goes under and the bailiffs turn up to seize everything it’ll still be worth at least $50k.
Blimey, I’m far more cynical than I thought…
I cant wait for automotive to do the same. VW releasing a poluting Diesel for collectors. Not to be driven, but as art piece collectors item :p
