Gibson Tobias Bass Series Returns With Growler, Killer B, And Classic
Single coil and humbucker models, bolt-on or neck-through
Luthier Michael Tobias originally manufactured Tobias basses in the late 1970s. Gibson later bought the company, marking the comeback of the finest boutique basses. With its Growler, Killer B, and Classic models, the Gibson Tobias series returns with three lines of modern 4- and 5-string basses, including left-handed models.
Gibson Tobias Growler IV and V
The Growler IV in the Gibson Tobias series offers a powerful midrange with smooth highs and crisp lows. It is designed for exceptional playability and features a 34″ scale, a three-piece hard maple and purpleheart bolt-on neck (with the typical asymmetric profile), and a fretboard made of Wenge wood.

The bass’ ergonomic Paulownia body is lightweight but extremely durable. Equipped with a Babicz bridge, Gotoh tuners, and one Bartolini MM42CBJD3 Quad Coil with an added 18-Volt Bartolini three-band EQ, this versatile bass is also available as a 5-string, namely the Growler V. A premium Tobias gig bag is included.

Killer B: 24 Frets and a Sapele Body
With a 34″ long, 5-piece neck (asymmetric profile) and an ergonomic Sapele body, the Killer B basses from Gibson Tobias offer both a tonally and visually appealing performance. High-quality hardware and active Bartolini humbucker pickups allow for flexible tonal adjustment.

You get two Bartolini 4-String Tobias Radiused Top Humbuckers for the IV models and two Bartolini 5-String Tobias Radiused Top Humbuckers for the V line. Each bass comes with controls for master volume, blend (neck volume and bridge volume), and a three-band EQ with treble, mid, and bass controls. A premium Tobias gig bag is included, and the model is available in 5-string and left-handed versions.

Gibson Tobias Classic With Neck-Through and Quilted-Maple Body
With the Classic line, Gibson Tobias also re-introduces a bass line with higher quality woods and a neck-trough-body design. With a body made of quilted maple and walnut and maple and purpleheart neck (asymmetrical design), these basses offer the absolute best of the Tobias series.

24 frets, Wenge fretboard, 34″ scale, and for pickups two massive Bartolini Tobias Radiused Top single coils (4-string or 5-string versions respectively), this line shows the Tobias series returning to form. All bass guitars of this series are available to order at Thomann*.
