Gibson Warren Haynes Les Paul with 15dB Boost
Warren Haynes gets new signature Les Paul
Gibson has announced the highly anticipated Warren Haynes Les Paul Standard 60s Cherry. This guitar seamlessly merges the classic aesthetics of a 1950s Les Paul with contemporary features tailored to the legendary guitarist’s exacting specifications.
Warren Haynes
Warren Haynes, renowned for his work with The Allman Brothers Band, Gov’t Mule, and a prolific solo career, has long been a devoted “Gibson man.”
This new signature model reflects his deep connection with the brand and his desire for an instrument that delivers both vintage feel and modern versatility.
Warren Haynes Les Paul Standard
The Warren Haynes Les Paul Standard boasts a mahogany body with a plain maple cap, finished in a striking 60s Cherry, reminiscent of Haynes’ beloved ’61 ES-335. The mahogany neck features a substantial 50s Vintage profile, a crucial element for Haynes, ensuring a comfortable and resonant playing experience.
A rosewood fretboard with acrylic trapezoid inlays and 22 medium jumbo frets further enhances the guitar’s classic appeal.
However, beneath the traditional exterior lies a suite of modern innovations.
P-90 DC Soapbar
One of the standout features is the pair of P-90 DC Soapbar pickups, engineered to deliver the iconic P-90 tone without the hum often associated with single-coil pickups.
A 15 dB boost, activated by a mini toggle switch, gives players an instant volume enhancement for solos and dynamic passages. Notably, the guitar’s design allows for uninterrupted performance even if the boost’s battery dies, simply by switching the boost off.
Verdict
This new signature model is expected to appeal to a wide range of players, from those seeking a vintage-inspired instrument to those looking for a versatile guitar with modern enhancements. The boost and P-90 pickups are a very versatile combination that covers a lot of ground.
