Godlyke issues limited edition Tamura-modded TS808 TubeScreamer with “Magic IC”
Designed by Susumu Tamura
Godlyke has just announced a new limited edition Tamura-modded TS808 TubeScreamer pedal. This “extremely limited” run TubeScreamer is its first release since its recent split with Maxon.
Godlyke limited edition Tamura-modded TS808 TubeScreamer
Designed by one-time Maxon engineer and TubeScreamer designer Susumu Tamura, this little green overdrive pedal is definitely one for the TubeScreamer connoisseurs. Only 100 of these will be made available to the public.
Magic IC
This is partly due to the lack of available parts during the lockdown as well as the rarity of certain components. This highly limited run of TS808 pedals uses resistors and caps hand-selected by Tamura, and a set of NOS Toshiba germanium clipping diodes. Each pedal also features what Tamura calls the “Magic IC”, which are a specific brand and from a very specific time period, to achieve that classic TubeScreamer tone that made the originals so desirable.
Hand Signed
Instead of the traditional rectangular button of the Maxon and Ibanez designs, this pedal has a standard-style footswitch. You also get an ultra-bright blue LED. Each pedal also comes hand-signed by Tamura, so you will have bragging rights with your mates.
More to come
Godlyke and Tamura both previously worked together to help conceive the highly acclaimed Maxon APEX808, that is, before Maxon ended its partnership with Godlyke at short notice this summer. Apparently, the working relationship between Godlyke and Susumu Tamura will now carry on, with more TS808 designs in the pipeline.
If you like a good quality Ibanez TubeScreamer, then these modded versions are surely ones to check out, as they are made by the original circuit designer. With only 100 available worldwide, they might sell out pretty quickly. But hopefully, we will get some more interesting releases from this partnership over the coming years.
RRP – USD 349

Snake oil warning: there are no magic ICs. This is a blatant cash grab.
