Green Day’s Garage Sale: Band sells over 100 pieces of gear
After 30 years of collecting odds and ends and really good stuff...I have to sell some of it off.
Billie Joe Armstrong and Green Day are having a massive clearout of gear, presumably to make some space. Their Dookie album has reached the grand old age of 25 years and the band has amassed a lot of gear in that time. Now you can own it.
Green Day’s Garage Sale
Fancy owning one of Billie Joe Armstong’s old guitars? The sale starts on 7 February and is being held on Reverb. Mr Armstrong says:
Every guitar has its own character. Each one reflects who you are—the kind of songwriter you are, the kind of guitar player that you are. Used guitars, in particular, come with a history to them. I love the character you can see looking at a fretboard that’s been used.
The Gear
In the sale, you will find one of the first guitars that Armstrong ever owned, a Harmony Stella parlour acoustic he used to record the track “F.O.D.” on Dookie. He is also selling the Marshall 4×12 Cabinets used on the tours to support that album and the follow-up record Insomniac. The cabs were used on every Green Day show since 1994 – with mud on them from the ‘mud fight’ that ensued during the band’s 1994 Woodstock performance.
Billie’s Axes
You can also pick up a Gibson Les Paul Junior, Les Paul Goldtop or a nice Fender ’72 Deluxe Tele. All played by and owned by Billie Joe Armstrong.
With Dookie celebrating its 25th year, this garage sale lets bid on a piece of the band’s history. If it is all a bit too pricey for you, you could always stump up for one of the new MXR Dookie overdrive pedals instead, which are being launched this weekend at Winter NAMM. Or perhaps one of last year’s Gibson Billie Joe’s Signature LP Jrs?
If you fancy seeing what else is on offer, head on over to the Green Day Reverb page from the link below or just watch the video they made to announce the sale.
