Gretsch adds new finishes to its Streamliner Collection
New colours added for 2022
Gretsch has announced some cosmetic tweaks to its Streamliner Collection. These include new finishes for existing models, the G2622 Streamliner, G2655T Streamliner Jr and G2215-P90 Streamliner Junior Jet Club P90.
Gretsch Streamliner Collection
The Gretsch Streamliner Collection consists of wallet friendly models. As such, it has always been a popular line for the brand, offering both retro looks and affordability. For 2022 the company has added some new colours to the existing models. We knew they were coming, as they were announced all the way back in January, but you should start to see them at official dealers soon.
New Colours
New finishes are always an easy win for a brand, and a nice way to refresh old favourites. This year’s new colours have been added to the G2622 Streamliner with V-Stoptail which is now available in Midnight Sapphire and Forge Glow Maple.
Construction
These models have laminated maple bodies partnered with a spruce centre block, along with nato necks and laurel fingerboards. You also get 22 medium jumbo frets. Pickups are a pair of Broad’Tron BT-2S pickups, controlled by two volume and two knobs, and a three way selector switch.
Bigsby
Then there is the smaller bodied G2655T Streamliner Jr with Bigsby. This model follows the same basic construction as the G2622 above. It is now available in Stirling Green, Brownstone Maple, and Walnut Stain.
RRP – G2622 Streamliner USD 549 and G2655T Streamliner Jr USD 449
G2215-P90 Streamliner Junior Jet Club P90
Next we have the G2215-P90 Streamliner Junior Jet Club P90. It is a pretty no-frills model. You get a bound nato body and a bolt-on nato neck with a laurel fretboard. Hardware includes a neat compensated wrap-around bridge and a set of die-cast tuners.
Pickups are a Broad-Tron BT-2S in the bridge position paired with a P90 in the neck position. These are controlled by individual volume and tone knobs, and a three-way toggle switch.
Available in Havana Burst, Ocean Turquoise, and Shell Pink.
RRP – USD 399
Verdict
Overall, not much to complain about at these prices. I think the style and retro looks will appeal to a lot of guitar players. Those new colours are all nice choices as well, so something for everyone here. If you are in the market for something with a vintage aesthetic, but don’t want to pay vintage prices, then Gretsch has you covered with these models.
