Grez Guitars – The Folsom combines Tele and Firebird pickups
Combining classic tone woods and with multiple bridge options
California based Grez Guitars has just announced a new solid body guitar design, a first for them, called The Folsom. This new model combines both Telecaster style and Firebird pickups.
Grez Guitars The Folsom
The Folsom comes with some unique design choices, these include a satin nitrocellulose finished basswood body and a 25″scale, length Honduran mahogany neck. The fretboard is made from Macassar ebony and fitted with 22 jumbo frets, so it should play really well and feel smooth on those bends.
Lightweight
Grez Guitars states that the whole guitar will come in at under 7lbs which is on the lighter side of the scale for most electric guitars. It is no feather weight by any means, but still should be pretty comfortable for your shoulder when played on a strap.
You have colour finished that include Light Cream, Dark Natural or Pearl Metallic Grey satin nitro.
Hardware
You can order your Folsom with a choice of bridge hardware that includes choice of either a string-through Tele, Mastery with Bigsby B5 or a Mastery/Grez stainless steel trapeze tailpiece. So something for everyone here and some nice options in my opinion.
Pickups wise you get a Fralin Telecaster style bridge pickup and Lollar Firebird pickup in the neck position. Both great brands for boutique pickups and ones I have owned myself in guitars of my own, so I know they sound good.
It is all top notch hardware and the choice of tone woods is a really nice combination, so these guitars should sound great. You can hear them in action in the official Grez Guitar video below.
Follow my link below for all the full specifications or to order direct from Grez Guitars, the guitars should be shipping from he first week of July.
