Guitar Center Gibson Les Paul Custom: A skyline paint job to make your eyes pop!
That Hollywood skyline emblazoned on a Les Paul Custom?
This limited run of only four guitars was designed with Gibson’s Custom Shop to help celebrate the re-opening of Guitar Center’s flagship Hollywood store. This full-on Hollywood skyline finish will make your eyes pop!
Gibson Custom Hollywood Skyline Les Paul Custom
This guitar is a very limited edition of only 4 guitars. Each one was hand finished by Custom Shop artist Darron Dubose. It was designed to help Guitar Center celebrate the grand re-opening of its Hollywood store. The Gibson Custom Hollywood Skyline Les Paul Custom (that’s a mouthful) has the iconic Hollywood skyline emblazoned upon it.
Handpainted
To my eye, it looks a bit like the PRS rainbow finish on the Al Di Meola Prism signature model. This one has a palm tree or two and that Hollywood billboard emblazoned on top of its AAA grade ‘multicoloured’ quilted maple top. It is all hand-painted with a nitrocellulose finish. Bet this took a while to finish!
It’s a lightweight mahogany body and a mahogany neck that has custom abalone inlays on the ebony fingerboard. The guitar has 22 jumbo frets and a Corian nut. The pick-ups are a pair of Gibson Custom Shop CustomBuckers wired to a three-way switch, with the standard twin Volume and Tone controls. You also get an ABR bridge and Grover kidney tuners, so standard hardware for a Les Paul Custom.
Warning: View using sunglasses
Yes, it is a bit of an eyesore and not something that will appeal to everyone. But, as we all know, if you want to get ahead in Hollywood, you may have to do some things that you may one day regret. Buying this guitar could be one of them…
