Plus, the Quad Cortex Plini X is coming

Amplitube SVX 2
IK Multimedia is giving their Amplitube SVX 2 software away for free for Halloween, so you have until 31 October 2023 to claim your copy. It offers a great set of Ampeg bass rigs for your DAW, so it is well worth grabbing.
It normally retails for €99.99 which makes this a great saving.
Ampeg
Amplitube SVX 2 includes three bass amps that are virtual versions of the Ampeg Ampeg B-15N, Ampeg V-4B and the SVT-VR. It also includes a set of matching Ampeg bass cabinets in 1×15, 2×12, and an 8×10 formats.
The software runs using the AmpliTube 5 for Mac/PC software and will run either as a plugin for your DAW, or standalone. New users can install the free Amplitube 5 CS software to access all the free bass gear, once it has been claimed.
Supported plugin formats include Audio Units, VST 2, VST 3, and AAX.

Blues Walker
Blues Walker is the name used by Yuji Shimano from Japan. He has created a foldable guitar system that is based on two classic vintage Fender guitars. The best part is that the whole system fits into a tweed covered brief case sized case, and it has a built-in amp!
Fender-ish
He has made two versions, one based on a 1953 Telecaster and the other a Stratocaster model with a vintage style trem. These headless guitars have the tuners down at the base of the main body and they fold away neatly into the case when not being used.
Unique
I was surprised at how good they both looked and sounded. Yuji Shimano has done a great job of capturing that vintage Fender tone and they aren’t just a gimmick.
Make sure to check out all his work via his website and Instagram pages below. He is based in Sendai City, Japan and was apparently trained in automobile modification originally. He has now adapted those skills to create these unique folding guitars.

Neural DSP Plini X update due
Finally, Neural DSP has finally announced they are releasing their Plini X plugin software for the Quad Cortex system. Unfortunately, users will have to wait for a CorOS update due soon before they can use the new virtual rig.
“Our users have been asking for plugin compatibility with Quad Cortex for some time and after a lot of intense effort over the last several years, it will soon be a reality,” – Dan Davies, Chief Marketing Officer at Neural DSP.
Cost
The Archetype Plini X is available for $119, or as a free update for any existing users. Quad Cortex owners will need to own the software to then add it to the system, so it isn’t a free update.
Though, if you already own the software and a Quad Cortex, then it is just a matter of waiting for the OS update.
Since the Quad Cortex has just had the price dropped down, this could be a good time to invest in this expanding system.
