Spinal Tap II
Spinal Tap II – The End Continues is the full title of the new movie. Forty years after Rob Reiner’s groundbreaking mockumentary, This Is Spinal Tap, shook the world, the legendary (fictional) rock band is back! A teaser trailer for the highly anticipated sequel has just dropped, confirming a September release and sparking excitement and speculation.
Beyond 11?
The teaser itself is a tantalizingly brief glimpse into the band’s return, showcasing Nigel Tufnel plugging into a custom Marshall JCM800 and, naturally, cranking the knobs not just to 11 but to infinity. Yes, you read that right – infinity. The band’s new tube amp promises to push the boundaries of rock and roll to unprecedented levels (of deafness).
However, eagle-eyed viewers have spotted a fleeting glimpse of a unique electric guitar during the iconic “Stonehenge” riff.
Could it be a Union Jack Ernie Ball Music Man St. Vincent Goldie? If so, it marks a surprising stylistic departure for Tufnel, as it is almost understated.

The sequel promises to catch up with the band after decades away from the limelight. As Reiner previously revealed, the years have been… eventful.
Nigel has reportedly been running a cheese and guitar shop in Berwick-upon-Tweed, David St. Hubbins has found himself composing hold music for frustrated energy customers, and Derek Smalls has achieved the prestigious position of curator at the New Museum of Glue, a global institution.
Mark your calendars for September – Spinal Tap is back, and they’re turning it up to infinity.
The Collection: Kirk Hammett
Gibson Publishing has just announced The Collection: Kirk Hammett book, which looks like another limited-run tome about Kirk’s guitars.
Three Editions?
The teaser image shows three versions of the book, each with different colored spines, so I’m guessing there will be different versions, possibly a signed edition, etc.
Which Guitars?
After the Gibson TV—The Collection: Kirk Hammett of Metallica, we can assume that it will have Greeny, the 1989 Les Paul Custom, and his black 1979 Flying V, but Kirk has many guitars, so if you are a Metallica fan, then this new book will be a must-have if you want to see all those guitars.
Hopefully, this release’s price point won’t be ridiculous, and fans can get a copy. I’m also wondering how many non-Gibson guitars it will contain.

Thom Yorke – The Bends
On March 28th, 1995, Thom Yorke performed a solo set at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto, Canada, opening the Nu Music Night to support Radiohead’s album, The Bends.
Acoustic Set
The video is just over 24 minutes long and shows Yorke playing the short set of songs on an acoustic guitar to an audience that has yet to hear the new album.
Though perhaps not immediately recognised as a landmark event, Thom Yorke’s unplugged renditions of Nice Dream, High and Dry, Street Spirit (Fade Out), and Fake Plastic Trees have proven to be enduring and impactful Radiohead classics.
He finishes with Thinking About You from their debut album, Pablo Honey, which the audience knows. I’m still getting my head around that this was 30 years ago. It’s a great way to celebrate the ground-breaking album and a real treat for Radioheadhead fans.
