Harley Benton Delta Blues Resonator: Mississippi Delta tones
Perfect for Mississippi Delta slide guitar
The Harley Benton Delta Blues Resonator is part of their Bluegrass Series and features both a square neck and generous nut width. This classic lap-steel guitar is perfect for Open tunings and getting down and dirty.
Delta Blues Resonator
Harley Benton’s Delta Blues Resonator offers a classic square neck design, which is aimed at lap-style playing and so has a wide nut to facilitate a steel bar.
If you want to achieve Mississippi Delta tones, then this is a great way to go. It has a single 265mm cone with a 30mm height. This will help amplify this acoustic and also give it some extra grit.
Construction
The OM-12 size body is made from Sapele, as is the square neck and it has an Amaranth fretboard. The fretboard has dot fret markers and side dots.
Sapele is part of the mahogany family and perfect for a nice warm bluesy tone. Whereas brass, aluminium or steel-bodied resonators are typically associated more with Hawaiian steel guitar playing traditionally.
Though, you will see many a blues player using either type.
It has a bone nut with a 48.5mm width, which is wide and perfect for steel playing. Both the body and the neck come with neat black binding, to give this guitar a smart aesthetic.
Biscuit
It has a maple and Pau Ferro biscuit bridge and this sits in the main cone and is an important part of the design for a resonator.
They ship with a set of HB HQS 12-53 phosphor bronze strings, though some players may want to go heavier depending on what Open tunings they use.
The only other hardware is a set of sealed die-cast chrome tuners, which are perfect for the job.
Overall, I think this is a pretty impressive specification for a lap-steel guitar and all you will need is to choose which Open tuning to use and what steel * or slide * to play with.
