Harley Benton Fusion-III

The Fusion-III series from Harley Benton caters to modern playing styles and is launching today with five new models. Each guitar is based around a Sapele body combined with either a Canadian maple or a roasted maple bolt-on Modern C neck. These necks come with either a Macassar ebony or roasted maple fretboard and are loaded with 24 stainless steel jumbo frets and a Graph Tech nut, which should aid fluid playing styles whilst keeping everything nicely in tune.

HH or HSH?

You can have either an HH layout with Roswell LAF-CR AlNiCo-5 humbuckers, and a push/pull coil-split on the tone control and a three-way switch. Or you can opt for the HSH version, which comes with two Roswell HAF humbuckers and a Roswell S74-C BK AlNico single-coil pickup in the centre position, plus the push/pull coil split on the tone control, and a five-way switch.

Hardware

All models come factory fitted with a very respectable Wilkinson 50IIK tremolo system in either chrome or a nickel satin finish, and all have a set of WSC staggered locking tuners. When you combine this with that Graph Tech nut mentioned earlier, it would indicate that these guitars should have rock-solid tuning.

Stunning Finishes

I’m also very impressed by the new colours available on launch, which include Black, Silver Sparkle, Flame Blue Burst, Flame Charcoal Burst and Flame Bengal Burst. All the finishes are pretty sweet and make these guitars look a lot more expensive than they really are. You are getting boutique-style instruments here for a fraction of the cost.

Boutique Style without the price tag!

Overall, I would say Harley Benton is upping its game. And I’m looking forward to hearing players’ opinions, once they get their hands on these models. They not only look great, but have some very nice specifications too.
