Heritage Audio HA-73 EQX2 dual mic amp/equalizer: two for the price of one?
European pro audio manufacturer Heritage Audio has announced the availability of its HA-73 EQX2 dual mic amp/equalizer. The unit is equipped with a pair of mic pres and equalizers and made to the same specifications as Heritage Audio’s ’73 JR (1073-style mic preamp in a single 500 Series slot), ’73EQ JR (line input module for the 500 Series), and DMA 73 dual mic amplifier models.
According to the blurb, Heritage Audio has managed to reduce the high costs of western European manufacturing, all the while using components such as handwound Carnhill transformers and ‘Vinkor’ pot core inductors.
The HA-73 EQX2 dual mic amp/equalizer’s preamp section has gain, OUTPUT trim, -20dB PAD, polarity reverse, high pass filter, and +48V phantom power controls while its EQ section has high shelving EQ, midrange EQ, low shelving EQ, variable high pass filter, and EQ bypass controls. The hardware itself is housed in a rugged, 2RU British steel and aluminium chassis and utilises an external power supply for low-noise operation.
Price and availability
The HA-73 EQX2 dual mic amp/equalizer is available for immediate purchase via Heritage Audio’s global network of dealers with an MSRP of EUR 1,511 (excluding VAT) and MAP of USD 1,699. Considering this is a dual-channel unit with the right components in the right places, I think the price is quite reasonable.
