Ibanez ‘Foxx’ Tone Machine – $20,320 dirt box anyone?
Allegedly one of four in existence
The Foxx Tone Machine is a special Octave Up Fuzz effect. You either love them or you are happy when you do not have to hear him. Undoubtedly, it is a big piece of effect pedal history. Now there is an extremely rare prototype to buy.
Ibanez Tone Machine
There are apparently four prototype pedals labelled with Ibanez brand instead of Foxx. As we all know, the Ibanez Tube Screamer has also built by Maxon and Ibanez has sold it and has become known accordingly. It was probably different here.
A rare non-Foxx?
An ‘expert’ owns two more of these Ibanez logo models and so the current owner of this one Overkill music sells one of them on Reverb.
For the ridiculous price of $20320.55, that’s £15394.95 or €17700!
Ridiculously high. At least the shipping at a moderate amount at $50 from the States.
Sure, it’s a juicy slice of history being sold here. Or rather, a history that did not ever happen. A deal must have fallen through and so it never got off the ground.
This is particular fuzz box is just for well-heeled collectors and freaks. Any normal sane person does not buy effects pedals for over Twenty Thousand Fucking Dollars!!!
Especially when it sounds like this…

I love vintage effects gear as much as i love KISS!!! Original Yellow MXR Overdrive, Original Slime green Ibanez Tube Screamer, 1st generation RockMan Over Drive enhancement box. Flawless circuitry, flawless reliability! What happened from then up till now? Only tried and true gear that still maintains its reliability and quality is Marshall and Ampeg!!!
