To celebrate 50 years of inspiration and innovation from Roland Bjooks is releasing “Inspire The Music: 50 Years of Roland History”. It’s a massive 400-page coffee-table tome of Roland’s fabulousness.

These Roland things keep popping up in this 50th year of celebration. Bjook has mined the rich veins of Roland’s history. It’s unearthed a wealth of insight and inquiry into one of the most influential makers of electronic music gear. Within the pages of this new book, you’ll find over 70 interviews with colourful people. We’re talking about colourful luminaries such as Nick Rhodes, Howard Jones, Johnny Marr, Nita Strauss, Jean-Michel Jarre, Steve Levine, that geezer from Orbital, and many more. It will look at the culture behind the manufacturer and trace the history from the first ideas from founder Ikutaro Kakehashi through to where they are today.

Amongst all the people and commentators, you’ll also find the gear. There will be big piles of gear that obviously include some of the most influential ever created. This will be a beautifully presented archive of Roland loveliness if the previous books are anything to go by. The whole series is undoubtedly well written. They are deeply informative and so engaging that you’ll lose whole afternoons to the pleasure of thumbing through them. Without a doubt every musician who has an interest in technology and synthesizers should own them.

I have all the other books from them. I’ll buy the Rjoland bjook as well.
As I’m also just about to turn 50, this seems like a perfect suggestion to the wife, as to what to get me for my birthday (naturally I’m going to ‘ask’ for a Jupiter 8, but I know what response I’ll get 😂).
