Introducing the Kali Audio SM-5-C Passive Monitor and WS-6.2 Sub
Kali Audio is at it again! This time, they’ve launched the WS-6.2 subwoofer and the SM-5-C 3-way passive studio monitor, which we never saw coming.
In recent years, Kali has become a market leader in budget studio monitor solutions, offering neutral-sounding speakers that consistently produce results.
Kali Audio SM-5-C studio monitor
Kali’s new surprise passive monitor, nicknamed the “Santa Monica Project”, is constructed with a 5-inch woofer, a 4-inch mid-range driver, and a 1-inch coaxial metal dome tweeter.
Similar to the Kali IN series, the SM-5-C uses an acoustic point source design. To ensure a seamless transition between the midrange driver and the tweeter, there is a lot of attention to detail, especially with the geometry.
According to Kali, this helps the SM-5-C to produce an incredibly focused stereo image with the precision and detail you want from a studio monitor when mixing.
When it comes to amplification, Kali recommends an LEA amplifier that produces at least 1000W per channel. You can find out more details regarding amp specs and tuning instructions here on the Kali website.
The SM-5-C will be available soon from your favourite retailer, for a price of $999 MSRP each.
Kali Audio WS-6.2 Sub
Standing at just two ping pong paddles high, WS-6.2 is an extremely compact dual 6.5-inch long-throw subwoofer. Despite being slight in stature, it can still produce a maximum SPL of 120 dB and its frequency range goes from 27 to 200 Hz.
With dimensions of 40 x 36.8 x 27.9 cm, the WS-6.2 is ideal for setups where space is limited. Like most Kali products, it uses class D amplification. In addition, the design uses a bass reflex tube which minimizes distortion.
Connectivity includes XLR and RCA, so you can happily incorporate the WS-6.2 into your home studio or entertainment system.
You’ll be able to order the WS-6.2 from Thomann soon, priced at $599 MSRP.
