io808: A web-based 808 for your browser!
Get your '80s drum sounds fix!
io808, a web-based virtual Roland TR-808 drum machine emulator that will run in your computer’s browser, has just been launched and incorporates all the the classic design features pioneered on the original 808.
1980s groove
Now you can get your 1980s drum machine fix during your downtime at work, so instead of checking out Facebook likes when you should be working hard, you can knock out some solid beats instead! The io808 page uses React, Redux and the Web Audio API to bring you this virtual 808. Developer Vincent Riemer has used synthesis to generate the virtual 808 sounds. Of course, you may not have noticed it was 808 day recently, but many did and so this is a nice little tribute to the legendary drum machine.
You can also check out some of Vincent’s work and details of the project here
Browser Controlled
Okay, it isn’t perfect, but hey it is free! Go have a play and make some beats with it. It has got to be better than checking for likes on Facebook and followers on Twitter.
