Leaked: Strymon Zelzah Multidimensional Phaser
What could the new purple Strymon pedal be? It is a Multidimensional Phaser!
Strymon has been teasing, what looks to be a brand new product, via its Instagram account. What we do know is that it is purple, has a USB-C port, and is more than likely some kind of modulation. But is it a phaser? An envelope filter? Or perhaps a Uni-Vibe? Actually, it is the new Strymon Zelzah and we know it is a Multidimensional Phaser!
Update 24/08/21
Over on The Gear Page forum users have uncovered an image of the new, Strymon Zelzah, along with a logo for the new purple pedal. With less than a day to do until launch, this leaked shot has given us some huge clues about this new effect.
The pedal is labeled as a Multidimensional Phaser in the main shot of the pedal itself. In the image, we can also now see that it is a stereo dual-phaser with two sections with footswitches for 4-stage and 6-stage, along with switchable sweep and resonance. We can also now see controls for Speed and Depth.
You also have a mono/stereo switch on the top of the pedal. And we can now see clearly the Resonance switch has settings for Off, Mild and Strong.
Does 4-stage and 6-stage = 10-stage?
Potentially, you might be able to get a 10-stage phaser, that is if you can engage both footswitches simultaneously? We will have to wait till the official launch of the new pedal, which is at 12 noon Pacific Time later today.
Strymon Tease
This new Strymon product is shown in glimpses via the company’s Instagram account. So far we have seen a purple box, part of the rear panel with a USB-C port, and the most recent shows a portion of the front control panel. There’s also a hint at MIDI with an Ext/MIDI port, and that new USB-C port I just mentioned is the first time we have seen Strymon use this type of connectivity.

What is in the purple box?
My guess is that it will be a modulation pedal of some sort. Maybe some kind of phaser, as suggested by the partial labelling for Mild and Strong on one switch, and what looks like a Sweep control that appears to have settings for what could be Classic, Phaser and Envelope modes.

Filter, Uni-Vibe or Phaser?
It looks like a smaller format pedal, so I expect one or two footswitches to control the effect. Hopefully, it will take some of the modulation effects from the Mobius and push them even further. I own the Mobius myself, and it is a very useful pedal to have around, but something more focussed on a single effect type would be welcome too. The Mobius is a bit of a jack-of-all-trades and is getting on a bit now, so an advanced envelope filter, Uni-Vibe or phaser would be ace! I guess we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out.

The big reveal
24 August at noon Pacific Time is the big reveal. Strymon is streaming the release on its YouTube channel and we will probably also see it across its social media accounts. Let us know in the comments section what you think this new purple effect will be.
Okay, we now know it is called the Strymon Zelzah and that it is a Multidimensional Phaser with 4-stage and 6-stage settings.

Whatever it is, will be expensive as always.
Maybe if you were a better Christian you’d have more disposable income.
