Jackson 2025: Surfcaster Returns, X Series Grows
Dinky DK1A with Wahol-themed color!
Metal guitarists, rejoice! The guitar manufacturer from California is bringing back the beloved Surfcaster models. Jackson is also releasing new models for the X Series and the Pro Plus Pure Metal Series. Let’s take a look!
Jackson X Series Surfcaster – Return of the Affordable Offset Axe
Initially targeted at country musicians when released in the early 90s, the original Surfcaster all but vanished after Jackson was acquired by Fender in 2002. But like many 90s guitar products, it has never completely fallen out of fashion. So, Jackson is bringing it back: four models – two each in the beginner JS22 series and the midrange X series.
The Jackson X Series Surfcaster SC HT6 and SC HT7 guitars feature an offset poplar body, bolt-on maple neck and laurel fretboard with a comfortable 12′-16′ compound radius. In addition, they come with 24 jumbo frets with pearloid sharkfin inlays, a sturdy hardtail bridge and two high-output humbuckers that produce a rich sound perfect for metal guitarists.
The two JS22 Surfcaster models offer a more affordable setup aimed at beginners. They feature a poplar body, bolt-on maple neck and amaranth fretboard with white dot inlays. The guitar also comes with 22 jumbo frets, two Jackson high output humbuckers, volume and tone controls and a 3-way switch. All four models are available from Thomann*.
Jackson X Series Dinky DK1A: Outrageous Colors!
The two Dinky DK1A models Illuminati and Warhol are a sight to behold! Each one’s color is the opposite of the metal black that is basically Jackson’s DNA. These are a nice surprise! Both models come with an ergonomically curved Nyatoh body and a maple neck with graphite reinforcement. Their amaranth fretboard has 24 jumbo frets and a 12‘-16’ compound radius.
Both Dinky DK1A include a Jackson High-Output humbucker and a rail-style pickup at the neck. Their Floyd Rose Special Double Locking Tremolo at the bridge ensures strong tuning stability and also allows for excessive tremolo work. Both models are available at Thomann for 629 euros.
Staying with the more extravagant color theme, Jackson is also releasing a very hypnotic Soloist DX Bullseye model. It comes with pearloid sharkfin inlays, a Nyatoh body, and two Jackson high-output humbuckers
Pro Plus Pure Metal Series
The Jackson Pro Plus Pure Metal Series, with models such as the SL1A Soloist, KE1A Kelly and RR1A Rhoads offers a full-length maple neck and an ebony fretboard. These guitars are known for their great playability and powerful sound, with Fishman Fluence Modern bridge humbuckers and a Floyd Rose 1000 Series Double Locking Tremolo providing even more precise sound control.

There is no guitar manufacturer from California called Jackson. Hasn’t been for a long time. Jackson is a decal that Fender puts on instruments that it makes for the metal market – like with Charvel and Gretsch, for different markets obviously. All the staff work for FMIC.
