Jackson American Series Soloist SL2 DX: Now With Seymour Duncan Pickups!
Available in two variants with different bridges
Jackson’s SL2 series isn’t all that new. Just last year, they introduced guitars with EMG pickups. But now, with the American Series Soloist SL2 DX, there comes an edition with Seymour Duncan pickups. And it’s looking pretty fancy.
American Series Soloist SL2 DX: Premium Heavy-Metal
There are five new models in total. Let’s first look at what they all have in common in terms of wood and craftsmanship. These Strat-style metal machines feature an alder body, a fully set maple neck (in Jackson speed-neck format with a 12″ to 16″ compound radius), and an ebony fingerboard.

Add to that those fancy Jackson-style inlays: inverted mother-of-pearl shark fins. The look of these Made in the USA guitars alone makes your metal head spin. They are built at Fender’s factory in Corona, California. Each model also comes with Gotoh MG-T locking tuners and 24 jumbo frets.

The bridge is available in two versions, identified by the presence or absence of HT in the name. The non-HT American Series Soloist SL2 DX comes with a powerful Floyd Rose 1500 locking tremolo. The two HT models feature a Hipshot 6-string fixed bridge instead, and are priced slightly lower.
Seymour Duncan Pickups
However, the main difference between this guitar and Jackson’s previous SL2 models are the pickups. All five guitars in the new Jackson American Series Soloist SL2 DX series come equipped with two Seymour Duncan pickups. A 59 SH-1N at the neck position and a JB TB-4 at the bridge position.

You have the 59 for that classic, creamy PAF-style clean sound and the JB TB-4 for all that sonic might. Plus, you get a five-way switch and global controls for volume and tone. For those who have not yet warmed to the EMG Soloist SL2 series, the DX guitars might be it.
How Much Do The New American Series Soloist SL2 DX From Jackson Cost?
Five models are new to Jackson American Series Soloist SL2 DX. The three models with Floyd Rose 1500 Locking Tremolo are slightly higher priced. They are available in the colors Lemon Ice* (yellow), Snow White*, or Satin Black*, each for €2,479. A soft light case is included.

Then, there the two HT models. As mentioned, a Hipshot 6-String Fixed Bridge instead of a Floyd Rose tremolo is installed here. The colors Satin Black* and Satin Porsche Grey* are available from Thomann for €2,329 each. A Softlight case is also included here.

That yellow one…. ohhh. If I could only go back to 1987…
I don’t get why they don’t propose the stainless steel frets… at that price point it should be standard
