Jackson Lee Malia LM-87: Offset Riff Machine!
Bring Me The Horizon's lead guitarist, Lee Malia get new signature Jackson
Jackson Guitars has launched the Pro Series Signature Lee Malia LM-87, a guitar designed by Bring Me The Horizon’s lead guitarist, Lee Malia.
Lee Malia LM-87
This new Lee Malia LM-87 model aims to capture Malia’s versatile and powerful sound, blending classic rock aesthetics with contemporary features.
Malia, known for his intricate solos and heavy riffs, sought to create a guitar that could handle his demanding playing style. “It’s the guitar I’ve dreamed of making for years,” Malia stated, emphasising its accessibility for many players.
In 2017, he had a signature Epiphone RD and an Explorer, which were all under Gibson. These days, he has jumped ship to Jackson Guitars, which Fender owns. Lee certainly likes the more interesting guitar body shapes, which makes a nice change from Superstrats.
Surfcaster
The LM-87 is based on Malia’s custom shop model. It features an offset Surfcaster body shape with a thin open-pore finish on the bound Okoume body and neck, offering a vintage look with modern appointments.
The guitar’s design incorporates a TOM-style bridge with an anchored tailpiece and fine tuners, providing stability for low tunings and heavy picking.
Heavy Riffing Machine
Key features include a 3-ply pickguard, chrome hardware, and a fast D-profile 3-piece Okoume neck with a bound amaranth fretboard for smooth riffing. Custom Jackson signature pickups, including a bridge humbucker with push-pull coil-split, should offer versatile tone-shaping.
“From heavy down-tuned riffs to glassy clean leads, the playability and versatility of this guitar matches the musical breadth of the band’s discography.” – Jackson
Verdict
This new, affordable signature model should please fans of Lee Malia and Bring Me The Horizon. The band plays some major festivals this year, including Rock Am Ring & Rock Im Park in Germany and Reading & Leeds in England in 2025. I suspect Lee will play this model (or the Custom Shop version) with the band.
MSRP – USD 899.99/ GBP 849 / EUR 999

And the price is even under $1000! If it was ESP/LTD who made this signature model, I bet the price would have been >$2k.
