Jackson Scott Ian KVX King V Baldini Burst: A homage to Dimebag
Baldini was Dimebag's nickname for Scott Ian
The new Jackson Scott Ian KVX King V Baldini Burst is the Anthrax guitarist’s latest signature model. The guitar is a homage to Ian’s late friend, Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell. Baldini was Dimebag’s nickname for Ian.
Scott Ian KVX King V Baldini Burst
This Jackson Scott Ian KVX King V Baldini Burst is the first Floyd Rose-equipped signature model for the guitarist.
Construction
The construction includes a Nyatoh body with a flame maple top paired with a graphite-reinforced thru-body maple neck. The neck has a 12”-16” compound radius rosewood fretboard fitted with 22 jumbo frets and a set of Pearloid block inlays.
This guitar was 100 per cent inspired by Dimebag. Darrell had what he called the Dime Slime, and I had a Custom Shop done as a homage to Darrell’s Dime Slime. – Scott Ian
It has a recessed Floyd Rose Special double locking system and a set of Jackson’s sealed die-cast tuners. The pickups are a pair of Jackson High-Output humbuckers. It has a super simple control layout with volume, tone and a three-way switch.
Verdict
It is great to see a signature model for under $1000 and if you love Anthrax or Pantera then this guitar may well resonate with you. I love Floyd Rose locking systems and I have always liked Flying V-style guitars.
Therefore, it is a thumbs up from me and I really like that Scott has paid tribute to his late friend with the finish.
MSRP – USD 899 / GBP 869

Nice finish and part of me has always wanted to relive my youth with a pointy-headstocked guitar, but the rest of it leaves me cold. Sorry Jackson!
When I saw the guitar for the first time it made the WOW effect. It’s guitar is fantastic. I thought to myself, I want one. But what a disappointment when I saw that it was an X-Series (I personally have nothing against the X-Series, on the other hand I have 4 Pro-Series guitars). I was disappointed to learn that Jackson is not offered a Pro-Series at the same time (24 frets, Ebony fingerboard, Seymour Duncan Distortion pickups, 25.5 inch scale, unpainted neck back, color match headstock). In other words, a KV with this color. Hoping that Jackson will correct this oversight.
