Jackson updates X Series ahead of next week’s NAMM show. The updates include revamped Soloist, Dinky, Warrior, Kelly and Rhoads models. Plus a couple of new look bass guitars have been added to the lineup for 2022. Some nice retro ’80s throwback colours are on offer for 2022. Maybe it is time to break out the lycra leopardskin catsuits?

X Series Updates

The Jackson X Series has new colours for 2022, with neon and camo finishes amongst the revamped Soloist, Dinky, Warrior, Kelly and Rhoads. Along with new look Concert and Spectra bass models, there are plenty of great guitars from Jackson this year.

SLX DX

Loaded with a pair of Duncan Designed HB-103N and HB-103B humbuckers the X Series SLX DX comes in Granite Crystal or Red Crystal finishes over a poplar body. You get a through-body maple neck with graphite reinforcement and scarf joint, plus a 12”-16” compound radius bound laurel fingerboard fitted with 24 jumbo frets and classic Jackson Pearloid sharkfin inlays.

This model is factory fitted with a Floyd Rose Special double-locking tremolo bridge. These two new colours expand the range somewhat, and it is currently the cheapest model in this revamped release. I would say it offers a pretty solid instrument, albeit with a few cost-cutting hardware decisions.

MSRP – USD 699

WRX24

The WRX24 Warrior is all blacked out and comes in a Satin Black finish over the poplar body. It comes loaded with a set of matching black Jackson designed high-output pickups, plus black pickup rings and all-black hardware. It looks like a barbarian’s favourite axe and I’m pretty sure it could do some damage if swung as a weapon.

Specifications include a Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo, a compound radius laurel fretboard, plus a 25.5” scale length through-body maple neck.

X Series Rhoads RRX24

New for 2022 is this Winter Camo finish for the X Series Rhoads RRX24 and it looks pretty sweet. I like the finish and it reminds me a lot of the ESP camo models. This one has a Nyatoh body, plus a through-body maple neck and 24-fret fitted to a 12″-16″ compound-radius laurel fingerboard.

A set of high-output Jackson humbuckers and a recessed Floyd Rose trem mean you can whip out your favourite high-gain riffs with ease.
