Jam Pedals Rattler MKII: The Boutique Classic Just Got An Upgrade!
The Rattler MKII brings exciting new functionality and tonal abilities to the classic Rat circuit!
A new update to the Jam Pedals Rattler brings welcome changes and extended functionality to both the guitar and bass versions of the ProCo Rat-based distortion pedal.
What’s New With The Rattler MKII
For Jam’s second reimagining of the legendary ProCo Rat distortion pedal, they’ve added some extra features not typically found on other iterations of pedals based on this same topology. A second footswitch engages a standalone mid-boost, providing enhanced tonal options. The custom op-amp emulates the sound and feel of the original LM308 chip, ensuring a classic distortion experience.
The clipping toggle switch allows you to select between asymmetrical (like the original) or symmetrical clipping, offering greater versatility. The click-less footswitch uses relays for a soft touch on/off operation, enhancing usability. Additionally, the selectable start-up state feature lets you choose whether the pedal is on or off by default when power is applied, giving you more control over your setup.
The Rattler MKII On Bass
For bass players, Jam is offering this pedal with an inverted color scheme, but don’t be fooled. The Bass Rattler MKII has some extra tricks up its sleeve that make it a flexible tool for adding distortion to lower frequencies.
The pedal features a wet/dry blend or “Mix” control to retain clarity and articulation, even with heavy distortion. A second footswitch engages a higher gain stage for quick moments of heavy saturation. The Bass Rattler MKII also offers higher headroom than its guitar counterpart, making it ideal for bass players seeking versatile distortion options.
The new Jam Pedals Rattler MKII is available now at Thomann* for $218.00 / £202.00 / 239.00€ and $209.00 / £194.00 / 229.00€ for the bass version.
