Joe Perry tweets about new Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Signature Model
Aerosmith guitarist's new axe combines a Les Paul with Strat-like elements
There is a new Gibson Custom Shop new Joe Perry Signature Model Les Paul model on the horizon and it looks… unique! The Aerosmith guitarist has specified a Les Paul with a few elements with a decidedly Strat-like flavour. This will be a single-pickup new signature guitar and is slated for release sometime this year.

That’s right: a Les Paul meets a Stratocaster! Well, sort of… It has a single bridge humbucker and a Wilkinson tremelo for a bridge instead of an ABR-1 and a stop tail. So this is essentially a Les Paul with a tremolo.
The Aerosmith Guitarist has just tweeted about the new signature guitar, including an image showing the relic goldtop finish and Wilkinson trem.
It’s balanced and works great and stays in tune. And it’s got a Chandler Tone X for tone control – it has what looks like a tone knob, but actually when you pull it out it brings the Tone X into action . So you can either set it to a cool tone or get a wah-wah thing out of it. Right now, that guitar gives me a lot of stuff to play with.
That Tone X control has an extra 16dB boost with a midrange sweep available, so perfect for adding a bit of a boost for your riffs.
No release date or specific details are available yet, but you can bet your bottom dollar it will not be cheap. Joe’s Boneyard signature guitar usually sells for big bucks and I bet this one will too.
