JOYO Pedal Carpet – A magic carpet ride for your effects?
A simple, flexible solution to pedalboard woes
The new JOYO Pedal Carpet is a lightweight, flexible solution for gigging guitarists and the whole system is designed to easily be transported in a rucksack.
JOYO Pedal Carpet
The system is a unique way of organising your pedals, cables and affixing them easily onto a flexible piece of carpet like material. Ideally you would have a pretty small layout of half a dozen pedals or so for this to work effectively. J Mascis and Kevin Shields will probabaly have to look elsewhere for a solution to their pedalboard needs, but those of us with a more restrained approach to effects pedals will possibly get good mileage from the Pedal Carpet.
Rolling
You affix the individual effects pedals using a velcro style backing tape and then this adheres to the main carpet. Having done this you then lay them all out in a row on the pedal carpet and start wiring up, the neat thing though is that the wiring is rolled and tucked up underneath the main board. This keeps them all tidy and should keep your board neat and compact.
The whole system them can fold up and fit into the rucksack for easy transportation. If you watch the video below you can see the system being put together and it all makes sense. My only concern would be cables could get damaged by being trodden on whilst they support your weight as you depress switches, so maybe bot the best system for players with big feet or that like to really stomp hard on their pedals when engaging their favourite boost or drive pedals!
The idea looks good though and I am sure will be popular with many players, as its relatively cheap and versatile for the money.
