Kali Audio WS-12: a subwoofer for studio and live applications
Kali Audio has announced the WS-12 powered subwoofer. The company claims that the WS-12 not only works well in a studio setting, but is also suitable for live sound applications.

The Kali Audio WS-12 is a powered subwoofer designed to supplement the company’s studio monitors, such as the LP-6 or IN-8. According to Kali Audio, it can also provide bass management in a 5.1 surround system. But the studio isn’t the only place where the WS-12 can be used: The company says that it’s powerful and durable enough to hold its own in a live setting as well, alongside a small portable PA system.
The WS-12 is powered by a 1000 W Class-D amplifier. It features a 12-inch driver in a cabinet made of 18 mm plywood. Kali Audio states a frequency response of 30 Hz – 160 Hz (+/- 3 dB, down to 23 Hz at -10 dB) and a maximum SPL of 123 dB.
At the back, the WS-12 offers stereo inputs on XLR-TRS combo jacks, as well as RCA connectors. It also has XLR direct outputs for the full range speakers and a foot switch jack. Configuration options for various applications are accessible via the row of DIP switches next to the volume knob. Using these switches, you can set the crossover frequency, adjust the gain, and switch the subwoofer’s polarity, among other things.

The cabinet weighs 29 kg ( 63 lbs) and features carrying handles on both sides. It measures approximately 48 x 43 x 41 cm (19 x 17 x 16 inches). Is it practical to haul the subwoofer from the studio to your next gig? You’ll have to decide for yourself. But the Kali Audio WS-12 seems to have what it takes to do double duty in the studio and on stage.
Price and availability
The Kali Audio WS-12 costs USD 599. The company expects to begin shipping the subwoofer on February 17, 2020.

This is a great product from Kali Audio in a affordable budget. However, I haven’t used this brand in my overall career. But I’ll surely try this one. I used some of the well known brands like Rockford Fosgate, Polk Audio, MTX and JBL. Thanks for the post.
