Keeley 4-in-1: Blues Disorder, Angry Orange, & Super Rodent
Keeley Electronics has expanded its 4-in-1 Series with three new pedals. The new Blues Disorder, Angry Orange, and Super Rodent join the Noble Screamer and Muse Driver models.
Keeley Electronics 4-in-1 Pedals
Robert Keeley has announced the new Keeley 4-in-1 models, including the Blues Disorder, Angry Orange, and Super Rodent. Each pedal combines two classic distortion/fuzz and overdrive circuits into a single unit, allowing for some unique tone shaping and stacking.
Blues Disorder
The Blues Disorder combines circuits from the Bluesbreaker and Orange County Distortion, giving users access to a soft-clipping overdrive for classic blues tones.
OCD Hard Clipping
Then, combine this with the OCD’s hard-clipping distortion, which delivers a richer, fuller sound. Hybrid modes for unique drive tones are where the fun starts.
I’d say this is subtle and perfect for bluesy tones with plenty of touch sensitivity.
Angry Orange
What do you get when you combine a 78 Japanese Orange Distortion and a ’91 Civil War Fuzz? An Angry Orange is the correct answer.
Russian Muff
It’s based on a Boss DS-1 and a combined Russian EHX Big Muff. This hybrid drive pedal is going to be a lot of fun. It will get dirty, and you will love it.
Super Rodent
Next is the Super Rodent, which combines my two favourite drive pedals and ones I have used together for over 35 years. It has a Boss SD-1 overdrive circuit and a ProCo RAT drive/distortion in one pedal. Again, as before, this one has some lovely Hybrid tones, and I can see it being a great addition to a pedalboard for many guitarists.
Possibly a match made in heaven
Robert Keeley (obviously) knew this was my all-time favourite drive pedal combination and made it especially for me. But seriously, this is possibly my favourite of the three new releases.
4-in-1 Controls
All three pedals have a Tone, Drive, and Level layout. This is then complimented by two switches which engage the two circuits, allowing users to access each side and combine them as they see fit. Robert Keeley is very good at making high-quality effects, so expect some great drive tones and some very usable hybrid ones.
They all offer Buffered or True-Bypass so you can fit them into any pedal setup with no fuss.
Verdict
There is much to like here, and I think Keeley has chosen the perfect combination for each design. These will be popular as they are built like tanks, have great tones, and offer tremendous hybrid tones.
All three new models of the Keeley 4-in-1 pedals can now be ordered from Thomann. They will also be available in about a week: Blues Overdrive*, Super Rodent* and Angry Orange*.
