KMA Machines CHIEF DISRUPTOR: A new interpretation of the Big Muff-style pedal?
Proper, filthy, and dirty, with 3 styles of classic Muff sounds on offer
KMA Machines CHIEF DISRUPTOR is packed with great features and could be the ideal Big Muff-style stompbox for both guitar and bass alike. This new stompbox featurea some neat tweaks and benefits compared to the classic EHX circuit.
KMA Machines CHIEF DISRUPTOR
The KMA Machines CHIEF DISRUPTOR has three different gain structures on offer, all based on what it thinks are best versions of the classic Big Muff pedals over the years:
Vintage (VTG) offers what KMA describes as “every shade of discrete overdrive”,while Tight Mode delivers a more focused and modern sound with less bass and super crisp overtones. Heavy fashion is the essence of what we all love about Muffs. Heavy, persistent, and insanely thick, fuzzy distortion with bone-shaking basses and crisp mids. Simply turn on the disruption control and bathe in the dirt!
Active sound control with parametric mids
You get flexible tone shaping through the use of active bass and treble controls, which allow you to raise or lower them by up to 15 dB. Furthermore, the circuit has a parametric centre EQ with adjustable centre frequency and level increase/lower for precise fine-tuning. So practically everything is possible with this amount of control, from classic fuzz sounds to modern centre-hugging dirt sounds, to cocked wah-like saturation.
But there’s more! The centres can be switched on and off by foot switch and the frequency can even be controlled completely freely via an expression pedal. Finally, you can adjust the Q of the mid-EQ via an internal trimpot, making it perfect for all you ‘stompbox-tweakers’ out there.
Check out the video demos below to hear it in action. I really like it, but then I do love a good Muff!
