Where do you go when the recent Boss HM-2W just isn’t enough for you? Designed and made in Germany the latest take on the Boss HM-2 ‘Chainsaw Distortion’ tone, is KMA Machine’s new WURM 2 Distortion. It is smaller, and therefore more pedalboard-friendly than the 2020 original version, plus it now has top-mounted jacks as well. This, therefore, makes it a lot easier to squeeze onto a cramped pedalboard rig.

More Extreme, More EQ
That iconic active HM-2 two-band EQ section has been retained, but now two more bands have been added that offer a significantly wider range of timbres. In addition, each band also has an internal trim pot to change the centre frequency and further refine the sound if necessary. When in HM-II mode, you get the classic “chain saw” character of the high mids. But in the KMA mode, the EQ is tonally more balanced, less pointed and slightly wider in response. If this is too ‘middle of the road’ for you, just choose BOTH, for a mixture of the two EQs that “tear the Swedish forest to pieces”!

Terror Regulator
With all this additional tone shaping, however, the pedal can tend to feedback at very extreme settings. In this case (and to tame the high frequencies) there is a new internal controller to smooth the waves. The dip switch activates an input filter if necessary when absolutely everything is exhausted.
Last and certainly not least, the TERROR control provides all the malice and devilish distortion sounds you could possibly desire. According to the manufacturer, even a “young Chuck Norris would be scared to death!” Certainly, a pedal for lovers of extreme distortion, and one to check out if you like your high gain drive tones on the insane side of things.
