The KORG opsix SE and wavestate SE synthesizers just got a lot more affordable! The 61-key versions of both synths are now available for up to 46% less than the original prices. Does this mean they’re about to be discontinued?
KORG opsix SE and wavestate SE Price Drops
KORG launched the opsix SE and wavestate SE in 2023 as an alternative for keyboard players who weren’t satisfied with the measly 37 keys of the standard versions. In addition to 61 keys with aftertouch, both synths offer more polyphony than their smaller siblings. Both were also available in exclusive Platinum variants with shiny aluminum enclosures and stainless steel sides.
Did KORG overestimate the demand? We don’t want to jump to conclusions, but the prices of both synths began to deteriorate soon after their release. Maybe they were simply priced a bit too ambitiously, as the SE variants were more than twice the price of the standard versions when they came out. The third of the bunch – the modwave – was never released as an SE version, which could be a sign that the manufacturer quickly changed course.
Anyhow: If you fancy the KORG opsix SE or wavestate SE, now seems like a perfect time to take the plunge, as both synths have just become even more affordable. A price drop by nearly half after less than two years makes me wonder how much longer they’ll be available. That said, we don’t know at this time whether these prices are permanent or temporary.
