Korg USA bags Aguilar Amplification
The bass amp/pedal manufacturer is the latest company to be part of Korg USA
Looks like the Gibson acquisition of Mesa/Boogie is not the only major MI biz merger to take place in the first week of 2021. Aguilar Amplification, known for its bass amps and pedals, is now set to become a part of the Korg USA portfolio of brands.
Korg USA acquires Aguilar Amplification
According to an email sent out by Aguilar Amplification, the company is now owned by Korg USA, and as of 1 January, 2021, has been renamed Aguilar Musical Instruments LLC. It will join the impressive list of brands already under Korg USA, which include Korg, VOX, Blackstar, Spector, Darkglass, and Tanglewood, among others.

Aguilar Amplification
With over 20 years in the industry, Aguilar Amplification has garnered a reputation among bass players for its amp heads, cabinets, preamps, pickups, and effects pedals. According to the new arrangement, Aguilar’s staff will remain on board. This includes Dave Avenius, who will stay on as managing director, and called the acquisition “the next chapter in Aguilar history”. Co-founder Dave Boonshoft will also carry on as lead product development consultant.

Não gostei da aquisição da Aguilar pela Korg, pois agora irá cair a qualidade dos produtos da Aguilar, e com certeza os produtos da Aguilar começarão a serem “Made in China”, triste notícia essa aquisição!!!, ainda bem que eu comprei o meu Aguilar Tone Hammer 350 antes da aquisição.
