La Golden Acapulco: Dub Siren, sampler and all round party machine
Get the party started with La Golden Acapulco for all your siren needs and 3 banks of 4 samples for those essential floor-filling special effects.
La Golden Acapulco
It’s live on Kickstarter and fresh from Mexico, this is an analogue synthesizer Dub Siren with variable pitch and rate as well as three different waveforms. It couldn’t really get much simpler: Launch with the button, switch between waveforms, play with the Pitch and Rate knobs for some fabulous Dub Siren satisfaction. There are 3 modes to enjoy giving it a slightly different vibe.
The green buttons are for triggering samples. There are 3 banks of 4 samples giving you 12 in total which are loaded from an SD card. You can add your own in MP3, wave or wma format.
How much fun is this?

This history mentioned on the Kickstarter page is really interesting:
In Jamaica, dub music and sound systems were born from reggae culture. Dub is a music genre related to the mix of drum and bass sounds, samples, to create hypnotic dance music. King Tubby, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry and the Scientist are known as pioneers of the genre. The soundsystems are reggae parties with speakers, towers and subwoofers, and an ultrabass sound to feel the vibe with the entire body and soul.
In Mexico, this culture has another history. Sonideros are valued personalities in popular music, bringing the sound and the dance to the street. The sonidero’s people carry their speakers, turntables and improved effects to home parties, family ceremonies, neighborhood carnivals and other places to play tropical sounds.
Both cultures have a sampler as a basic tool. They can play a siren, a train horn, or maybe a scream, or just the scratch sound in a turntable, different tricks for each person. You can also add your own effects in this machine!
It’s a super-fun box that wants to be part of whatever party you’re throwing and is going to love being routed through a few old guitar pedals.
The Kickstarter rewards are a bit confusing but I think MX$1,000 (comes up at about £37) gets you a t-shirt, some music and a totebag whereas if you want the La Golden Acapulco you’ll need to find MX$4,000 or around £145. It should ship in October.
