Leak! Dreadbox Typhon: analog monosynth with Sinevibes DSP effects
They’ve been teasing a new collaboration on social media and now a little leak has revealed a list of features and some very small images – Dreadbox brings the synth and Sinevibes brings the effects.
Typhon
It’s a little USB powered analog synthesizer. They say that the hardware is designed for easy control over advanced functions so that even newbies can get a lot of fun out of it. It has 2 VCOs, a 4-pole lowpass filter, 2 envelopes and some modulation which is where we seem to move inside the box.
12 DSP effects are provided by Sinevibes but there are no details on what they are at the moment. But we also get 3 “Modulators” which can be power by either an LFO, EG, random or step sequences. And there’s a 32 note step sequencer for your tunes. It appears to have a preset engine with 256 presets to get you going. Presumably all of this is contained with the screen and some sort of menu system.
It looks really interesting particularly the effects which are usually on the light side when it comes to little synths. I had hoped for Sinevibes oscillators but it was not to be, but having used their effects on the Korg NTS-1 I imagine these are going to be great.
No release date or pricing but as the leak came from an online store then it can’t be far away.
