The Lewitt RAY microphone features AURA technology
A condenser mic with a distance sensor.
With the Lewitt RAY, its AURA sensor automatically activates the mic according to your proximity. Let’s take a look at what this mic can do!
Austrian microphone manufacturer Lewitt is known for its innovative, technological designs. The company has a reputation for creating affordable and accessible mics for creators and recording artists.
Lewitt RAY
The Lewitt RAY is a professional quality large-diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone with a 1-inch pressure gradient transducer. Its construction uses a 3 micron gold sputtered mylar diaphragm with a durable Zinc die cast enclosure.
Based on the popular LCT 440 PURE, the RAY uses 48V phantom power and connects to your audio interface via XLR. However, its integrated AURA sensor technology enables some useful functions for streaming, podcasting, and music recording.
By automatically sensing your distance from the microphone, the RAY microphone can constantly adjust your level and tone during tracking. This allows you to achieve a consistent gain structure without additional equipment or post-production.
In addition, the AURA sensor also lets you mute the microphone at a specified distance. This is ideal for podcasts and other vocal recordings, because silence is generated in the recorded files as soon as you pull away from the mic’s proximity.
Overall, with the reliable construction and audio quality of Lewitt’s microphones, the RAY promises to be an exciting new recording tool that can speed up your workflow.
Pricing and availability:
The RAY microphone is currently available for order from Thomann ($314 / £299 / 349€).

Anybody make something like the Aura technology as an add-on for any mic on a live stage? It would be damn handy to have open mics self-mute or duck when the singer moved away from it, or the drummer swung it away from him, or the keyboardist/guitarist moved to another location
Is there a product like Aura that can be added to any stage mic to automatically mute or duck when it’s not in use?
