Line 6 Helix 3.15 Firmware has just dropped, packed with effects and a new amp
Massive update for the Line 6 Helix family
Line 6 has just dropped the highly anticipated 3.15 firmware update for its Helix product range. Expect a new amp and effects with this latest version, and you can check out the full walkthrough video below to hear it in action.
Line 6 Helix 3.15
As ever, a new Line 6 Helix update is always a massive boost for the Helix/HX product line, and 3.15 has some nice goodies for Helix users to get stuck into. The new Line 6 Ventoux amp adds a nice boutique style amp to the lineup. Then we have the Ampeg Opto Comp, Ampeg Liquifier, and the Heliosphere, plus the ADT, Crisscross, Ratchet, and Tesselator delay effects. Then there is the Dynamic Plate, Dynamic Room, and Shimmer reverbs.
This model comes from a physical amp idea I had a while back. I was going to build it as a tube amp first. There are only so many hours in a day, though. The idea was to create a “coveted boutique amp” that had a different origin story. Most coveted boutique amps come from modified black panel Fenders or modified Marshall circuits. I wanted to do the same thing, but base it on the early 70s Orange circuits and the mid-wattage Fender Tweed circuits
Ventoux has a unique topology. In an indirect way, every knob is kind of a gain/drive control. The tone controls adjust the character and/or amount of the overdrive in those frequencies. This might be seen as complicated by some, but I find it exciting and full of possibilities.” – Ben Adrian, Sound Design Manager
New Legacy Effects in 3.15
Then, to add even more effects, Line 6 has added the New Legacy Effects, which includes the Bronze Master and Killer Z distortions. For modulation you have the Tape Eater, Warble-Matic, Random S&H and Sweeperb. As well as the Phaze Eko and Bubble Echo delays. And finally, a huge list of synth presets, including the Synth Lead, String Theory, Synth FX, Buzz Wave, Rez Synth, Saturn 5 Ring Mod, Double Bass, Seismik Synth, Analog Synth, and Synth Harmony. All these are based on classic Line 6 stompboxes like the DL4, and were taken from the old FX Junkie model pack for POD Farm 2.5.
Apple Silicon Support
The Helix Native VST/AU/AAX plug-in now also supports Apple M1 chips natively. Plus, the Input Pad is now assignable per preset and Global MIDI Control of encoders 1-6. You can see all the new features in the John Cordy YouTube video below, as he does a great job of covering all of them.
