Love Hulten moves away from the Minilogue for a beautifully engaging and tactile drone machine with 2 strings in a hurdy-gurdy style.

Gurdy thing

Love usually likes to base his fascinating custom instruments on the Korg Minilogue. This time, in a custom build, he’s incorporated a Moog Matriarch, T-Rex Replicator, Strymon Bluesky and Pigtronix Infinity 3 stereo looper. This thing is gorgeous.

More Information

On the top is pair of strings that are being continuously bowed by a rotating wheel, very much in the way that a hurdy-gurdy works. This sound is being picked up and injected back into the instrument with some controls over to the right.

In terms of functionality, this is the most versatile creation yet. While the Minilogue is a great synth it’s so good to see Love bring some Moogness into the instrument, it really opens up the patching possibilities and takes it to a whole other level. I think he could sell multiples of this machine without any trouble.
