LunaStone intends to deliver crushing tones with its new Deep Metal pedal
One for the metalheads
Danish effects company LunaStone has a new heavy metal orientated distortion pedal. The Deep Metal pedal aims to give you a huge rhythm tone for all your brutal high-gain riffs.
LunaStone Deep Metal
LunaStone describes its new Deep Metal pedal as offering a “scooped distortion tailored specifically for providing powerful and classic metal tones”. And if you take a few minutes to check out the video demo below, you will hear what they mean. The pedal itself has a super simple control layout which consists of Volume, Tone and Gain, plus a big red on light and true-bypass.
Metal Tones
The pedal’s layout is designed to make it easier to adjust the controls with your foot. You have easy access to both the Volume and Gain controls when playing, so if you need more, it’s just a quick tweak with your foot away.
“It was important to me to make Deep Metal sound huge, but at the same time be able to sound great even on smaller guitar rigs,” says Steen Grøntved, Lunastone’s founder and Head Engineer. “A classic problem when searching for that juicy metal tone on a combo is that you can push the woofer so hard that it is stretched to its limits – sometimes beyond, which ultimately results in a very poor guitar tone. That problem now vaporises with Deep Metal on the pedalboard.”
The pedal uses soft switching with a relay, and as mentioned above, it is true-bypass. The circuit itself is all-analogue and uses high-quality components throughout. I own a few LunaStone pedals myself and have found the build quality to be very good. They will certainly stand up to the rigours of the road.
The company has built up a reputation for designing overdrives, so this more extreme gain circuit is potentially new territory. You can hear it in action in the demo video below.
RRP – USD 159

Yeah, I’d agree with this statement. Would be nice to hear an A/B of both pedals. Ola Englund where are you?
