Martin Guitars Junior Series: The Beginner Series Gets A Big Refresh!
New Dreadnoughts and 000 models!
Major update to Jr. models! The redesigned Martin Junior Series features a more extended scale, upgraded electronics and new colors. Plus, new models in Dreadnaught and 000 sizes!
Martin Guitars Junior Series: What’s New?
The Junior Series is aimed at beginners within the universe of high-end luthier Martin, offering premium quality at not-so-premium prices. And today, they’re introducing eight new models in the revamped Martin Guitars Junior Series.

The update is divided into a few larger Dreadnaught models and a larger number of smaller 000 acoustic guitars. We will take a closer look at these in a moment. For those who can’t decide between the different models, Martin has set up a so-called “Companion” on the website.

Here you answer a series of questions, such as what your perfect date would look like, where you prefer to play your guitar, what you value most visually, whether you prefer to play chords, plucks or solos, and how often you travel. Martin then recommends the right guitar from the series for you. I have to admit that I don’t quite get the idea. What role in selecting the right guitar does my preference play in the perfect date?
The New Junior Deadnoughts
Martin calls the three dreadnought models “The Classic”, “The Life of the Party” and “The Old Soul”. Their actual names are a bit more revealing: the extravagant-looking D Jr E StreetLegend Burst* with, the D Jr E StreetMaster* without a pickguard, and the classic D Jr E*.

All three models feature a spruce top, sapele back and sides, mahogany neck, and ebony fretboard. The two changes in the new Martin Junior Series are a slightly longer scale length of 24.9″ (632 mm) and a new and improved Martin E-1 pickup system.

Five New 000s In The Martin Guitars Junior Series
Three acoustic guitars and two acoustic basses are new among the more compact 000 models in the Martin Guitars Junior Series. Compared to the dreadnoughts, you also get two models with cutaways, namely the 000C Jr E* and 000C Jr E StreetMaster*, and one 000 model without a cutaway, the 000 Jr E Sapele*.

In addition, two acoustic basses are also part of the series with the 000C Jr E Bass Burst* and the 000C Jr E Bass*. Like the dreadnoughts, the scale length here has been increased 24.9 inches, and the new Martin E-1 system has been added. You can order all the guitars from Thomann now, and they will be available in five to seven weeks.
