The Boss MT-2 is a bit of a modern classic, but also pretty controversial. Many players buy them but they aren’t known for sounding great. So by emulating them as a plug-in, Mercuriall Audio has taken on an interesting distortion circuit.聽This new MT-A plugin is available for PC and Mac in VST/AU/AAX formats. Did we mention that they are giving it away for free?

It also has controls for聽Level, Dist, High, Low, Middle, MidFreq, Input Gain, Mono/Stereo, Quality switch and an On/Off knob.

I’ve played the original Boss pedal these are based on and it has a certain tone and sound that’s an acquired taste. As with any effects pedal, it is all about how you use it. So this new plug-in emulation could be really useful for certain applications in your DAW.
