Midweek Modular: TeleBlender, Guitar Analyser and Beat Freqs
Error Instruments gets dialling with the TeleBlender while we discover a way to pull guitar strings into modular and get freaky with our beats.
This week saw the announcement of Knobula’s latest module, the Chord Pilot. Its purpose is to infect your modular with chords, strums and arpeggios but sent over MIDI. Pairs beautifully with the Poly Cinematic module and could be a bedrock of performable chord progressions. Read more about it here.
Robaux has a new version of the LL8 drum sequencer. Robaux has improved the firmware and made it a lot less fiddly by going for much larger and more touchable buttons. Read more about the LL8″ here.
And the Dreadbox Erebus and Hades DIY kits are now available and in limited numbers – get them while they’re hot! Read more about it here.
Midweek Modular
Here are some of the other modular bits and pieces that caught my eye this week.
Error Instruments TeleBlender
A beautifully steampunk-inspired module with an awesome-looking dial set right in the middle. TeleBlender generates experimental loops of control voltage. They call it a Bubble Bath Generator that comes up with complex rhythms, chaos CV, data and noise. The dial switches between algorithms which have their own character and variables. Play with the pitch and XY controls to explore the madness.

There’s lots of CV control over everything and you get CV and audio outputs which gives you all sorts of possibilities.
TeleBlender is a fascinating module for €239. I have no idea what to do with it, but I know it would be fun to find out.
Audiospektri Guitar Analyser
Audiospektri has been making vocoder stomp boxes and Eurorack modules that use the 6 strings of a guitar individually to produce the carrier. It’s now had the idea of taking the analysis on the strings and making it available as pitch and amplitude parameters in modular synthesis. The Guitar Analyser extracts the information from your guitar plugged in the front and outputs 6 individual 1v/oct CV notes on the left and 6 individual voltage levels based on amplitude.
There’s other stuff going on, like a mixed synthetic output, FM, vibrato and distortion, as well as an inbuilt compressor.
The whole idea sounds a bit nuts, but it could be a fascinating way of integrating your guitar skills with your modular in ways you hadn’t thought of before. The vocoder demos are quite impressive, but there are no videos of this in action just yet. There’s also nothing on the website at the time of writing, but apparently, the price is €339.

Nonlinear Circuits Beat Freqs
An interesting take on a gate pattern generator. It has 16 gate outputs and 4 sets of revolving pattern LEDs all derived from two signal inputs. The input with the highest frequency dictates whether the patterns revolve clockwise or anti-clockwise. The top pattern is a steady four-to-the-floor, the second runs at half rate, the third one jitters across diagonals and the bottom one is all about bursts.
In use, it’s a bit crazy, unpredictable and completely fascinating. Somehow it manages to come up with something useful. It’s really interesting to watch as the LEDs dart around and things are triggered.

Beat Freqs is available assembled for $170. PCB and panel kits are also available.
