Sample Science Modular Drum Fusion: Modular Drums for Ambient and Electronic Music
Are you tired of hearing the same drum sounds from the same handful of vintage 80s boxes over and over again? If you’re looking for unique electronic drum sounds for ambient, experimental techno, or abstract electronic music, Modular Drum Fusion by Sample Science is worth checking out.
Modular Drum Fusion is a ROMpler loaded with ten drum kits. All sounds were produced using modular synthesizers and various techniques such as FM, subtractive, and digital synthesis. A breath of fresh air for your drum tracks!
Each instrument channel has controls for level, pan, decay, and tune. Modular Drum Fusion also features a good selection of internal effects such as vinyl, tape, distortion, delay, reverb, and sub for additional sound shaping.
Modular Drum Fusion is available for macOS and Windows in VST, VST3, and AU formats.
Musictop Instruments Creatools Keys: Open-Source Keys
Creatools Keys by Musictop Instruments is a free and open-source sample-based instrument that focuses on acoustic and electric keyboard instruments. You can layer up to three samples in three slots. Each slot offers a multimode filter and advanced envelopes for sound shaping. Moreover, Creatools Keys has four powerful LFOs with editable waveshapes that can be routed to many different destinations using the mod matrix.
In addition to this, the plugin offers a bunch of built-in effects, such as compression, saturation, delay, reverb, and a global filter.
Creatools Keys comes loaded with over 120 factory presets, including various acoustic and electric pianos, digital and hybrid keys, textures, sound effects, and more. If you’re looking for unique keyboard sounds that you can shape and mangle in many different ways, check this one out.
At the time of writing, Creatools Keys is unfortunately only available for Windows in VST3 and standalone formats. According to the developer, Mac and Linux versions are coming soon.
Quiet Music Love-Fi 4 Lite: Lo-fi Sounds Galore
The last of our three ROMplers today is Love-Fi 4 Lite by Quiet Music. This free software instrument is dedicated to crunchy lo-fi sounds for styles like Chillwave, Chillhop, and Ambient. It features 19 presets loaded with pads, keys, basses, drums, field recordings, and sound effects.
In addition to an ADSR envelope and an LFO for modulation, Love-Fi 4 Lite offers global distortion, chorus, reverb, and delay effects.
Love-Fi 4 Lite is available for macOS and Windows in VST, VST3, and AU formats.
