Moog on your iPad with Minimoog Model D App
Well, that’s one way of undercutting Behringer, release a $4.99 app version of your most classic monosynth. The Minimoog Model D app is now available for 64-bit iOS devices.
Minimoog Model D App
They say it “captures the magic of its hardware namesake, inviting you to explore the fundamental elements of sound by setting, shaping, and modulating each aspect of the sonic phenomena”. Sounds awesome and with 160 presets built in you’ll be able to fully explore what people who know about these things think it should sound like.
The App Model D has 4 notes of polyphony, an arpeggiator, stereo ping-pong effect and the “Bender” time and modulation effect. It has a recording facility where you can loop and overdub for some serious Moog-on-Moog action. You have a choice of envelope shapes and control over their triggering behaviour. They have also developed a new take on the classic feedback/overload path.
On the iOS side, it supports AU version 3, Ableton Link, Inter-App and Audiobus. It will handle MIDI CC mapping, Bluetooth MIDI and even MPE.
So it seems like they’ve done the whole thing right – and it looks bloody perfect. It will run on any iOS device running 10.3 or up from the iPhone 5S which is a bit less intense than their Model 15 App. There are a range of in-app purchases which appear to be extra presets.
Download it now from the iTunes App Store.
