Music Man StingRay II Cory Wong Collection
The Cory Wong Collection is based on the classic StingRay bass shape
The new Music Man StingRay II Cory Wong Collection has been officially announced and offers a new twin humbucker model based on their classic Stingray Bass body style.
StingRay II Cory Wong
Cory Wong is known as a Strat player and already has a limited-run signature Fender model. He has now worked with Music Man and has just revealed the new StingRay II Cory Wong Collection.
The StingRay II Cory Wong guitars offer a great combination of functionality and aesthetic appeal. The roasted maple neck has a hand-rubbed oil and wax finish that feels good and improves playability. It provides a precise playing feel, equipped with a rosewood fretboard and 22 stainless steel frets.
Stingray Bass Influence
The ergonomic body design is based on the Stingray Bass and ensures the guitar is comfortable for standing and sitting. It has that Stingray signature ‘teardrop’ pickguard and Wong worked with Music Man to adapt the Stingray shape for the guitar.
Plus, there is a newly designed, larger headstock, which, together with the custom Cory Wong neck plate and gold hardware, gives the guitar a sophisticated and stylish look.
The Cory Wong HT humbuckers are the heart of this guitar. They are designed to provide pristine articulation and exceptional tonal balance. The StingRay II is available in stylish Charcoal Blue or Cashmere finish at Thomann.
StingRay II Deluxe Cory Wong
The StingRay II Deluxe Cory Wong differs from the standard version in minor ways.
A unique feature of the deluxe version is the matching painted headstock, which perfectly matches the rest of the guitar. The neck is made of selected, flamed maple.
In addition, the elegant white binding on the fretboard gives the guitar a touch more luxury. Available in Pine Green (preorder at Thomann) and Polaris White.
Verdict
It is great to see Cory Wong using humbuckers for a change, and Music Man makes some amazingly nice guitars, so these should be killer in terms of tones and playability.
