Musikmesse 2016: Nord release the Drum 3 percussion synth and Drum 3P with pads
Building on the apparently limitless sound generating possibilities of the Drum 2 Nord update the engine with more effects and simplified navigation along with a bunch of new soundbanks. Can you actually increase on something that’s limitless? Who can tell? Along side they are introducing the Drum 3P version which incorporates a compact percussion controller featuring 6 highly responsive pads – so you can have your Drum 3 with or without pads.
The Drum 3 is a 6 channel percussion synthesizer with resonant, subtractive and FM synthesis models. New in version 3 is the inclusion of reverb and delay effects which are adjustable per channel. The navigation and sound selection has also had an overhaul with a new category system to make it easier to choose, swap and allocated sounds to pads. The Drum 3 has 6 trigger inputs and MIDI whereas the Drum 3P has the 6 pads ready plus a kick pad input for a foot controller.
Availability is expected in June with pricing to be announced soon. The first demos will be available at Musikmesse.
